Matangini Hazra: A Heroine Who Defied the Empire

Born in 1869 in a small village in West Bengal, Matangini was married at just 12 years old.

She joined the Indian freedom struggle, participating in the Salt March and leading protests during the Quit India Movement

Matangini Hazra led processions with unmatched courage, chanting 'Vande Mataram' as she inspired thousands

In 1942, at the age of 73, she was shot by British police. But she continued to hold the flag high until her last breath.

Her legacy lives on in schools, roads, and statues named in her honor, reminding us of her bravery
